Clara Diamond is an international development professional specializing in democracy and governance programming, based in Washington D.C. In her current role at the National Democratic Institute (NDI), she supports the design and implementation of programs in Southern and East Africa that focus on the political participation of women, youth, and marginalized communities. Prior to NDI, Clara has worked on international assignments for bodies of the UN and local non-governmental organizations in Malawi, India, Ireland, Peru, and New York. Clara possesses a Master's Degree in International Peace Studies from Trinity College Dublin, where she focused her research on women's participation in global peace agreements.

Clara advocates for policies of diversity, equity, and inclusion to be at the forefront of national and international security agendas, in order to elevate voices that have been historically excluded from global decision-making. She looks forward to bringing her expertise to, and learning from, the community at Women in Foreign Policy.

In her free time, Clara enjoys long distance running and hiking. She has run in marathons in New York, Ireland, and Zimbabwe, and hopes to add more to her list in the post-COVID era.
