This privacy policy tells you about the data we collect about you when you sign up to the Women in Foreign Policy newsletter and visit our website.
The personal information we collect and what we do with it
a) Website
You do not need to register or supply any personal information to browse our website.
We use Squarespace to track user interaction. This data helps us determine the amount of people using our site. Find out more about Squarespace’s privacy policy.
Google Analytics records your data about your IP address, geographical location, device and internet browser but none of this information personally identifies you to us. We consider Google to be a third-party data processor. For more information, see Google’s privacy policy. Google Analytics uses cookies, read about this in Google’s developer guide. Google Analytics will stop tracking your visit to our website if you disable cookies on your internet browser.
Squarespace and Google Analytics are third parties which process data on our behalf. They are both compliant with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield framework.
b) Newsletter
We send newsletter-style emails twice a month to subscribers who have double-opted in. The newsletter includes original content, curated links, job listings and exclusive event announcements. We will only contact subscribers with the newsletter.
The sign-up form gives subscribers the option of entering criteria for job adverts and event announcements. Subscribers can state a country and choose a job category from the drop-down menu (e.g. students, professionals with 5+ years’ experience). We use this generic information to send subscribers content which is tailored to their location and occupation.
We won’t share your information with any other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes.
Where your data is stored and for how long
We use a third-party processor called MailChimp to administer our mailing list and deliver our newsletter.
The email address and information you submit if you choose to sign-up to our newsletter is transferred to MailChimp and stored within its database. MailChimp is a US company which stores data in the US. MailChimp is compliant with the EU-US Privacy Shield framework. When you sign up to our newsletter, you agree to your data being stored in this way.
Your information will remain in this database for as long as we use MailChimp or until you request to be removed from our mailing list.

Your rights
Under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you (the data subject) have several with regards to your data.
You have the right to:
a) Ensure that your data is accurate and have any inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
b) Obtain a copy of the personal data we hold on you.
c) Ask us to erase your data. Upon request, Women in Foreign Policy will delete all personal data we hold on you.
d) Restrict the level of processing of your personal data.

Opting out of future communications
To request removal from our mailing list, click the unsubscribe link located at the bottom our newsletters.

We will report data theft and any unlawful breach of our mailing list to relevant authorities within 72 hours of the breach.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
This privacy policy is effective from the 26th March 2018. We keep our privacy policy under regular review and will notify you of any changes to our policy in our newsletter.
